Blue Apple now in Southampton

Blue Apple is now running The Chestnut Theatre Company in collaboration with Way Ahead Leisure Pursuits, who provide activities to adults with learning disabilities in Southampton.

The sessions will run during term time on Thursdays 6-8pm from 28th April 2022 and aim to build skills in acting, dance and singing in a weekly session working towards putting on local shows throughout the year.

The sessions are held at Testlands Hub, Green Lane, Southampton SO16 9FQ and are available to adults with learning disabilities using Way Ahead’s services in Southampton.

Contact Blue Apple on 07510 844480 or email admin@blueappletheatre.com to find out more or book.

The photos below show the first session of the group under Blue Apple’s direction. The group was originally set up by one of Blue Apple’s volunteers but it was unsustainable during COVID. Blue Apple has been invited to get it back on its feet. The first session on 28 April had 14 participants who were super excited just to be back in a room with each other with each other - even more excited to be doing drama activities using their bodies and their voices - so it was a really positive very high energy session led by Blue Apple’s freelance facilitator Toni Foster and Blue Apple’s Artistic Director Richard Conlon. Toni is going to look after it from here on in.

Richard commented: “It was so lovely to see a group of people who probably suffered a bit more than most in lockdown due to isolation and they were really keen to be back together being creative, being connected with each other, and having fun.”
