Blue Apple’s Expand Inclusion Campaign

Giving Tuesday - 28 November 2023

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving back. It’s a day when everyone everywhere can do something to support a good cause close to your heart. Help us support adults with learning disabilities who want to take part in theatre, dance, film and song.

The difference Blue Apple makes: building confidence and friendships

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities can experience a poorer quality of life and social isolation. Increased confidence gained through stage performances has helped Blue Apple participants to enhance their social, personal and artistic skills and also achieve public recognition for their talents.

Wouldn’t it be great if more learning disabled people could enjoy acting, singing and dancing with Blue Apple? To reach more people we need more trained facilitators and there are not enough out there so with your help we aim to run training sessions to support more performers.

#GivingTuesday - Blue Apple’s Expand Inclusion Campaign

Join us in transforming lives through the power of performing arts!

Mission:

Your support can make a world of difference. Blue Apple Theatre is on a mission to expand our inclusive performing arts programs for learning disabled performers. Help us bridge the gap by training more facilitators with the specialist skills needed to unlock the potential of our performers.

Why it matters:

While the demand for inclusive activities is high in Hampshire, a shortage of trained arts practitioners hinders our reach. By supporting our campaign, you enable us to host workshops that equip facilitators with the skills and experience essential for working with learning disabled individuals. With each batch of ten facilitators we train, we open doors for another 200 learning disabled performers.

About Blue Apple:

Founded by Jane Jessop and her son Tommy, Blue Apple Theatre is a Winchester-based charity addressing the lack of opportunities for individuals like Tommy with a passion for acting, dancing, and singing. Many with learning disabilities face exclusion from such activities, leading to social isolation. Blue Apple provides a platform for them to engage in the arts, fostering self-confidence, communication skills, and the chance to showcase their talents. Our aim is to challenge stereotypes and demonstrate the incredible abilities of learning disabled individuals.

How you can help:

£500: Supports a basic skills training day for up to ten facilitators.

£1,000: Empowers us to run a special skills training day for up to ten facilitators.

£2,500: Fuels a week-long course for up to ten facilitators.

Together, let's make performing arts accessible to all! Donate now and be a catalyst for positive change.
