Blue Apple’s outreach project with The Grange Centre in Surrey
Blue Apple was commissioned by Eloise Appleby, CEO of The Grange Centre, to work on a project with a group of adults who have learning disabilities. The Grange Centre is a registered charity, social enterprise and housing association in Great Bookham near Leatherhead, Surrey.
During her previous roles at Winchester City Council Eloise Appleby developed affection and respect for Blue Apple’s work and was looking for an opportunity to collaborate with Blue Apple.
Blue Apple’s Artistic Director Richard Conlon said “Because of COVID and other things it never really happened but I’ve been getting in the car driving to Surrey just outside the M25 and bringing a little bit of what I hope is Blue Apple magic to the Home Counties. I’m been working together with the project participants on the history of The Grange Centre, looking at how it has changed through time and what it means to them as a place. The participants only had seven sessions to make something and had never performed before, so they achieved masses in a short time. It all came together at an event on 26 June.”
